What do to in the unlikely case of an incident

Updated over a week ago

In the unlikely event that you are injured on a shift, Sidekicker is here to help!

The most important thing to do is to seek help right away. If you're not sure where to find first aid or appropriate medical treatment, find your manager or supervisor -- they're your first point of call at the shift.

How do I notify Sidekicker that I've been hurt?

You should let Sidekicker know you've been injured as soon as it is safe to do so. You can do this via the "Report a workplace incident" button on the app.

When you report your incident, you'll be asked to complete an incident report form. You can complete that form here.

Will I be entitled to worker's compensation?

If you are injured while working on a shift with Sidekicker and you incur medical expenses or have been advised by a medical professional to stop work, you may be entitled to claim workers' compensation. Our diligent team thoroughly assesses every incident report and will be able to assist you with the next steps if you are eligible.

How to claim workers' compensation in New Zealand:

Everyone in New Zealand is covered by The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). If you are injured on a Sidekicker shift, the ACC can help pay for the costs of your recovery, like payment towards treatment, help at home and work and help with your income.

There are just four steps to access help from ACC:

Step 1: Make sure you have completed a Sidekicker Incident Report

Step 2: Visit your healthcare provider and ask them to make a claim on your behalf

Step 3: You may need to pay for part of your appointment. If ACC covers your injury, they will pay part of your appointment to your health provider

Step 4: ACC will send you a letter to confirm if your injury is covered. If you are unable to work because of an injury covered by ACC, they can help with your income. You can see a list of injuries covered by ACC here

If you have any questions about how to claim workers' compensation in New Zealand, you can contact ACC on 0800 101 996.
