As part of Sidekicker's duty of care, we require all Aged Care Sidekicks to complete a pre-employment medical examination for Vaccines and Preventable Diseases, which provides a baseline health assessment for a worker before they enter a role with an employer.
Completing a VPD Evidence Form assists with risk management and identifies whether a worker is medically suitable in the role they are applying for. As Aged Care involves direct patient contact, indirect patient contact and potentially contact with blood or bodily fluids, Sidekicker requires evidence of vaccination.
Healthcare workers may be exposed to, and transmit, vaccine-preventable diseases such as influenza, measles, rubella and pertussis. Maintaining immunity in the healthcare worker population helps prevent transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases to and from healthcare workers and patients.
Annual seasonal influenza vaccination is not mandatory for any group but is recommended and is strongly encouraged for all workers, as you may be working in aged care facilities, private hospitals, community care and other medical facilities.
