How do I complete my AIN/PCA profile?

Information on completing your profile and certificates for Assistant in Nursing staff, Personal Care assistants and Aged Care Workers,

Updated over a week ago

Sidekicker have a number of shifts with Premium aged care facilities across VIC and QLD. To work as an AIN/PCA you need to upload the following documents:

ANSAT Placement Book (Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing students only)

If you are studying a Bachelor's or Diploma of Nursing and have completed 1 placement in a Residential Aged Care facility, you are eligible to work as a PCA/AIN. You will need to show proof that you have passed your placement by uploading your placement book / ANSAT placement notes. When doing this, please consider:

  • If you are taking a photo of a physical piece of paper, please ensure it is in focus and can be easily read

  • Please ensure the final judgement of your placement (Yes/No, Passed/Failed, Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory etc.) is in the image and can be clearly read

  • Please ensure the signoff from the Registered Nurse / Facilitator is also in the image and can be clearly read

Right to Work Check

All Sidekicks must complete an online Right to Work Check. To verify your right to work, you’ll need either your passport, citizenship certificate, or Australian visa.

Check out this page for how to complete your Right to Work.

Police Check

Many aged care facilities require a current Employer Police Check. If you do not have a current Police Check, or you only have a Volunteer Police Check, please let our team know and we can arrange a Sidekicker-funded police check for you.

Nursing Variation Agreement (NVA)

The Nurses Variation Agreement allows you to work with an 8 hour break between shifts rather than the standard 10 hour break outlined under the Nursing Award. By signing the NVA, you're confirming your agreement with Sidekicker to legally pick up shifts with only an 8 hour break in between. Of course, you are only ever required to work shifts that you've applied for - so please look after yourself and your health first and only apply for shifts within the timeframe you feel comfortable working. Sidekicker does not allow Sidekicks to work "doubles" (back to back shifts with less than an 8 hour break between).

To sign the agreement, simply select the "Nurses Variation Agreement" Certificate on your profile to access the link. You need to follow the blue link that says "Please upload a signed copy of the agreement" and input your email address.

This will then send a copy of the agreement to your email for you to sign. Once you have signed the agreement, download it as a PDF and upload it back to your profile.

Healthcare Safety & Compliance Quiz

All workers on the Sidekicker platform must complete the generic OH&S Quiz (~7 mins). Additionally, all Healthcare workers must complete Sidekicker's Safety & Compliance Quiz (~4 mins). Both quizzes are hosted by Typeform and can be accessed via the certificate links on your profile page, and here.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Application & Clearance.

Clients are requiring our Sidekicks to have been cleared to work with people on the NDIS. If you do not have this clearance, head here for details on how to apply.

While you wait for your clearance you can upload proof of your application as a screenshot to your profile. Once you have been cleared we will require that you update an NDIS "Yellow Card."

Vaccinations

  1. COVID-19 booster (third dose) - As at 31/03/2022, both the QLD and VIC Governments require aged care workers to have received the third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Find out what constitutes acceptable proof of vaccination for COVID-19 here.

Please submit proof of your COVID-19 vaccine through your profile to be certified by our third-party provider Certsy.

  2. Flu (influenza) vaccination - You can book your annual flu shot at most pharmacies in Australia (e.g. Terry White Chemists).

Proof of your current flu show may include either the signed paperwork from the pharmacist given to you at the time of your vaccination, or your immunisation history statement (see COVID-19 link above).

Please submit proof of your flu vaccination by uploading it to your profile.

Hand hygiene

Hand hygiene performed at critical points during patient contact is essential to prevent the onward spread of disease and to limit environmental contamination. It is recommended by the National Hand Hygiene Initiative (NHHI) that hand hygiene is refreshed annually. You can refresh your Hand Hygiene certificate online via the NHHI free portal here. Please complete the course relevant to your level of experience:

  • Student nurses: please complete the "Student Health Practitioners Online Learning Module" course

  • AIN/PCA: please complete the "Allied Health Online Learning Module" course

Once you have completed your course you will receive a certificate of completion from the NHHI. Please upload this PDF to your Sidekicker profile.

And finally, your pay details!

As you are applying to become a casual employee of Sidekicker, we require the following in order to process weekly payment. Our pay schedule can be found here.

  • Superannuation number (if you don't have one let us know at interview we can help)

  • Tax File Number
