Understanding how Sidekicker screens and onboards workers
Updated over a week ago

Providing businesses with qualified, reliable and productive Sidekick’s (workers) is Sidekicker’s number one priority.

Each month, thousands apply to become a Sidekick, with only a 15% approval rate. Our stringent application process and industry-leading standards guarantee top-notch Sidekick quality.

Screening

With a diligent online screening process, Sidekicker identifies the best workers to join as Sidekicks through a two-step screening system.

  1. Application: Acquiring essential details about a workers' skill sets, qualifications, and previous work experience.

  2. Assessment - Successful applicants undergo industry-specific assessments. Hospitality applicants demonstrate 3-plate carry, and manual labour applicants showcase safe manual handling with a 20kg lift.

After the application and assessment, each Sidekick is matched with the appropriate skills and attributes, and placed in relevant labour categories. These categories determine what job SIdekicks can view and apply for.

Worker onboarding

Workers who pass their assessment will be moved though onboarding where additional complaint and safety checks are complete and include;

  • Right to work check: Sidekicker verifies each Sidekick has valid working rights in the country they’re applying to work.

  • Profile setup: All Sidekicks have a detailed profile, providing you with transparency over a Sidekick’s work history, qualifications and certificates.

  • OH&S induction: Sidekicks complete an OHS induction to test their knowledge of the standard OH&S practices. To pass the induction, Sidekicks need to achieve a score of 100%.

Once the Sidekick profile setup is completed, they are instantly eligible to start applying for jobs that match their skills!

Additional pre-employment checks

Sidekick may need to complete additional pre-employment checks based on the industry, role, or the country the Sidekick is going to be working in. Other checks they might need include:

  • MoJ in New Zealand

  • RSA for Hospitality roles servicing alcohol

  • Medical Assessment Questionnaire for Manual Labour staff

  • Forklift Licence for Forklift Driver roles

Non-standard pre-employment checks

Sidekicker does not conduct the following pre-employment checks for our Sidekicks as a standard:

  • Drug and/or alcohol test

  • Police Check

  • Medical checks (apart from the Medical Assessment Questionnaire conducted for Manual Labour staff)

  • Customer specific pre-induction or training that Sidekick needs to attend

If your business requires any of the above pre-employment checks, you can discuss the options with your Account Manager or by contacting our support via the chat bubble.
